It never ceases to amaze me how quickly man adapts to his surroundings. Weβve barely been in Texas six weeks, and I can barely imagine I was ever anywhere else.Β
We moved into this unfurnished house with nothing but a few suitcases and a van full of studio gear. Since then weβve transformed it into our home, and built a recording and streaming studio, all the while keeping up with the 3 streams a day and music every week on Spotify release schedule.Β
How?
Incremental improvements. A little every day. The place is far from where we want to to be, but itβs feeling like home now, and it feels more like home every day. A picture here. A stick of furniture there.Β
My studio is far from where I want it to be, but it's functional, and I make sure gets a little better every day. Yesterday I added a monitor to my setup so I can sample Youtube clips on the fly whist DJing. The day before I fixed the blackout windows, so weβve got uniform lighting.
Systems > Goals. If the goal is AMAZING HOUSE! then the whole time its not that perfect amazing vision, youβre in a state of failure, of loss, of lack. If the system is A Little Better Every day, every day is another glorious victory, and that AMAZING HOUSE is an inevitability.
Today I got this wooden thing full of holes up on the wall of my big-ass Texas garage. I am awash with joy and gratitude. And I canβt wait to make something little better again tomorrow.
