It's a beautiful day to be alive here at the peak of recorded human history

GO FORTH AND BE MIGHTY!

Lyrics

Uh, do I feel happy in life?
Um...
Um, let's see
Let's say I hope I'm finding happiness, right?
So for me, um, until I can realize certain things in my work
Um, I come the closest to being happy, and I can say that also about my life
Well it only happens, I think, in moments
Sometimes when I'm working
And I'll be able to, uh
Uh... fulfill a scene truthfully and then I think I'm the happiest
Well, I find it very stimulating to keep studying and working
Um... uh, but I'm not just generally happy
If I'm genuinely anything I guess I'm genuinely miserable [Laughs]

[Chorus]
Um, I'm not just generally happy
If I'm genuinely anything I guess I'm genuinely miserable [Laughs]
Um, I'm not just generally happy
If I'm genuinely anything I guess I'm genuinely miserable [Laughs]

I don't know
Uh, sometimes, I don't know. I think sometimes I do, sometimes I don't which is natural, I guess, for everyone
Um... I would like to be more sociable than I am
On some days
Sometimes I'll chat when I'm not pleased but sometimes the work itself requires more, uh
That I'm quiet and to myself more
And other days like during a musical number I try not to get too, uh, I'd like to be more outgoing because that's what I have to express and so I try to keep it general
I try to, even if I feel like it or not I'll try to make the effort to make contact with people around me
Yes, because I could easily be alone
It doesn't bother me to be alone
Some people I know, they don't like to be alone. I don't mind it
I need it as a rest and yes, it kind of refreshes myself
Yeah, and a rest

[Chorus]
Um, I'm not just generally happy
If I'm genuinely anything I guess I'm genuinely miserable [Laughs]
Um, I'm not just generally happy
If I'm genuinely anything I guess I'm genuinely miserable [Laughs]

[Chorus by Akira The Don]
Um, I'm not just generally happy
If I'm genuinely anything I guess I'm genuinely miserable [Laughs]
Um, I'm not just generally happy
If I'm genuinely anything I guess I'm genuinely miserable [Laughs]

Yes, I think there's two things in human beings that they, as I think there is in myself
Um, that they want to be alone but they also want to be together, you know?
Because I think I have also a gay side to me, also a sad side
And I think that's the way with people, also
But there is something in people they want, they need solitude for a while
[Chorus]
If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch
You must first invent the universe
If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch
You must first invent the universe

This is a time of great danger
But our species is young and curious and brave
It shows much promise
In the last few millennia, we have made the most astonishing and unexpected discoveries about the cosmos and our place within it
I believe our future depends powerfully on how well we understand this cosmos on which we float like a mote of dust in the morning sky

[Chorus]
If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch
You must first invent the universe
If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch
You must first invent the universe

The surface of the Earth is the shore of the cosmic oceans
On this shore we've learned most of what we know
Recently we've waded a little way out
Maybe ankle deep, and the water seems inviting
Some part of our being knows this is where we came from
We long to return, and we can
Because the cosmos is also within us
We're made of star stuff
And we are a way for the cosmos to know itself

[Chorus]
If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch
You must first invent the universe
If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch
You must first invent the universe

[Chorus]
If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch
You must first invent the universe
If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch
You must first invent the universe

The cosmos is full beyond measure of elegant truths, of exquisite interrelationships, of the awesome machinery of nature

[Intro]
Catalysts to say, what has never been said
To see what has never been seen
To draw, paint, sing, sculpt, dance, and act
What has never before been done

To push the envelope of creativity and language
And what's really important is, I call it the felt presence of direct experience
Which is a fancy term which just simply means we have to stop consuming our culture
We have to stop consuming our culture
We have to create culture
Don't, don't, watch TV, don't read magazines, don't even listen to NPR
Create your own roadshow, the nexus of space and time where you are now is the most immediate sector of your universe
And if you're worrying about Michael Jackson or Bill Clinton or somebody else then you are disempowered
You're giving it all away to icons, icons which are maintained by an electronic media so that you want to dress like X or have lips like Y
This is shit-brained, this kind of thinking
That, that, that is all cultural diversion, and what is real is you and your friends and your associations, your, your highs, your orgasms, your hopes, your plans, your fears
And we're told, "No." We're unimportant, we're peripheral. Get a degree, get a job, get a this, get a that. And then you're a player
You don't want to even play in that game
You want to reclaim your mind and get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers who want to turn you into a half-baked moron consuming all this trash that's being manufactured out of the bones of a dying world
Where is that at?
Where is that at?
Where is that at?

[Chorus]
Catalysts to say what has never been said
To see what has never been seen
To draw, paint, sing, sculp, dance, and act what has never before been done
To say what has never been said
To see what has never been seen
To draw, paint, sing, sculp, dance, and act what has never before been done

Reclaim your mind
Reclaim your mind
Reclaim your mind

[Chorus]
Catalysts to say what has never been said
To see what has never been seen
To draw, paint, sing, sculpt, dance and act what has never before been done
To say what has never been said
To see what has never been seen
To draw, paint, sing, sculpt, dance and act what has never before been done

Reclaim your mind
But by this means of effortless effort, the individual changes his policy
And a good example of this method of changing is in the selection of an adequate vocal coach, if you intend to take singing lessons
In the, shall we say, “robusto style”, the principal problem was to open your mouth and bellow
And nearly all, or many of the older singers were quite content and happy if they could rattle the chandeliers in the back of the opera house
Then it was gradually discovered that this was the best way to ruin a voice, that there was
These voices were damaged, and damaged terribly

[Chorus]
Today we know
That the best way to learn
To vocalize, is to reduce effort
Today we know
That the best way to learn
To vocalize, is to reduce effort

The principal problem that every singer has to get rid of is his own throat
If he could lose it, he would sing better
Get his mind off of the noise he is making, relax, and allow the breath to move as it will
And if he controls the breath with a minimum of mental energy, he will produce a purer tone
While if he gets behind it and shoves with everything he has, he will develop only a badly pressured, badly trained voice

[Chorus]
Today we know
That the best way to learn
To vocalize, is to reduce effort
Today we know
That the best way to learn
To vocalize, is to reduce effort

Same thing in life
Same thing in life
The purpose of life, the economy of life, is to use a minimum amount of energy to obtain maximum result
Minimum amount of energy, maximum result
Minimum amount of energy, maximum result
Minimum amount of energy, maximum result
Same thing in life
Minimum amount of energy, maximum result
Same thing in life
Yeah, my opinion is that if somebody wants to stay home, they should stay home
If somebody doesn't want to stay home, they should not be compelled to stay home
That's my opinion
If somebody doesn't like that, well, that's my opinion
This notion though, that you know, you can just sort of send checks out to everybody and things will be fine is not true
Obviously
Some people have this absurd lik, view that the economy is like some magic horn of plenty, like, it just makes stuff
There's a magic horn of plenty and the goods and services, they just come from this magic horn of plenty and then, if somebody has more stuff than somebody else it's 'cause they took more from this magic horn of plenty
Now, let me just break it to the fools out there
If you don't make stuff, there's no stuff

[Chorus]
If you don't make stuff
There's no stuff
If you don't make stuff
There's no stuff
If you don't make stuff
There's no stuff
If you don't make stuff
There's no stuff

Yeah, so if you don't make the food, you don't process the food, you don't transport the food, medical treatment, getting teeth fixed
There's no stuff
They would become detached from reality
You can't just legislate money and solve these things
If you don't make stuff, there is no stuff

[Chorus]
If you don't make stuff
There's no stuff
If you don't make stuff
There's no stuff
If you don't make stuff
There's no stuff
If you don't make stuff
There's no stuff

Obviously
We'll run out at the stores
We'll run out of the...
Machines grinds to a halt

[Chorus]
If you don't make stuff
There's no stuff
If you don't make stuff
There's no stuff
If you don't make stuff
There's no stuff
If you don't make stuff
There's no stuff
